Kutlayev Dmitry is a Russian landscape and graphic photographer. He generally focuses on architect, design and interiors in his work to create a minimalistic look in his work. Dmitry is also an industrial as well as an interior designer which is where he draws his inspiration for his work from.
I have chosen to resarch Kutlayev as one of my photographers because his work with stairs really fits in with my idea for my exam project. He photographs stairs that are modern and minimalist. There are no signs of life in the stairs as they are clean and pristine which is what I want to show in my work. His stairs look very man-made and artificial which is something that I need to show in my work to contrast with the set of stairs that have been taken over by nature.
Analysis
In this image Kutlayev Dmitry has taken a photograph of a set of stairs indoors. The stairs are all whit with a predominantly white background. By using all white in the image, Dmitry is showcasing the minimalistic style in his work. The stairs therefore look very artifical and man-made as the stairs are made out of very artifical materials. As the image is predominantly white, it shows that there is no form of life on the stairs as there isn't even a spec of dirt. Due to the same colours being used for the background and the stairs, there isn't any contrast in the image nor is thete any depth. However this creates a very simple minimalstic image which is what the photograoher was most likely aiming for in his work.
